Sabarimala Temple closed after Idavam Month Puja (May – June) on 19 May 2017.
The hill shrine of Lord Ayyappa here will be closed on May 19, marking the conclusion of the five-day long monthly ‘poojas’ for the Malayalam month of ‘Idavam’.
Special rituals Sahasrakalasam and Kalabhabhishekam will be conducted on the concluding day.
As part of Sahasrakalasam, Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu conducted Sahasrakalasa Pooja at the Sopanam of
the temple at 6 pm on Sunday.
The ritual will conclude with ‘Kalasabhishekam’ on the idol of Lord Ayyappa during the Uchcha Pooja.
As part of the Kalabhabhishekam ritual, Thantri Kandararu Maheswararu will conduct Kalabhakalasa Pooja at the Mandapam at 11.30 am.
Before conducting the Kalabhabhishekam ritual on the idol, a procession carrying the Kalabhakalasam will be taken out on the temple premises before the Uchcha Pooja, circumambulating the Sreekovil.
Udaysthamana Pooja, Padi Pooja and Pushpabhishekam are among the other rituals scheduled to be conducted on the concluding day.
The hill shrine will be reopened on the evening of June 14 for the five-day monthly poojas for the Malayalam month of Mithunam.
