Some of the Ganesh Mandals in Pune will have the theme of Lokpal Bill for Ganesh Chaturthi 2011. With the growing popularity of the agitation led by Anna Hazare, the artisans & the organizers are making efforts to make the theme of Lokpal Bill in Ganesh mandals. The organizers of Vaibhav Sarvajanik Ganapati Mandal in Aundhgaon & Arunodaya Mitra Mandal in Sanghvi are already started the arrangements.

Anna Hazare’s agitation has caught the imagination of Ganapati mandals too, with many of them in the city planning it as the theme at pandals this year.
Artisans and sculptors are making models of Anna Hazare, Kiran Bedi and Baba Ramdev to meet the orders placed by mandals. Satish Tau, a renowned sculptor who owns a studio in Kasba Peth has already made life-size statues of Hazare and Ramdev. “I have at least 10 more orders for Hazare statues and expect five more,” he said.
Vaibhav Sarvajanik Ganapati Mandal in Aundhgaon also thinks Lokpal Bill is just the right theme. “We were contemplating between numerous scams that surfaced this year and the Lokpal Bill. Since Lokpal Bill came later and is an answer to stop such scams, we decided to go with Hazare and the Lokpal Bill,” said Ajit Gunjal, vice-president of the mandal.
Vasudev Oak, president of Arunodaya Mitra Mandal in Sanghvi, said, “It is after a very long time that a movement like this is being seen in the country. Using it as a theme for our mandal for 10 days is not just a way of supporting Hazare, but also educating the public about the bill.”
