Arulmigu Mangalambika Samedha Prananadeswarar Temple is located In Tirumangalakudi, near Aduthurai in Tamil Nadu, and it is an ancient temple of Lord Shiva. This temple is glorified by the Nayanmar saints in the Tamil Sacred Text Tevaram.

Once when Kulothunga Chola was ruled Aduthurai, his minister had utilized the tax amount for building the Prananadeswarar Temple at Tirumangalakudi. Due to that, the king had executed the minister to death. On hearing the bad news from the people, the minister’s wife worshipped Ma Mangalambigai in this temple in order to restore the life of her husband. As soon as the dead body of the minister reaches to Tirumangalakudi, he regained his life due to the grace of Lord Prananadeswarar, and Ma Mangalambigai.

From then onwards, this temple is considered as a very sacred temple.According to another legend, when once Navagrahas cured the diseases of their devotee, all of them were cursed by Lord Brahma to become lepers, since no one is permitted to change the fate laid down by Lord Brahma. The Navagrahas then went to thirumangalakkudi and prayed to Lord Shiva, Parvati, and Lord Vinayaka, and as a result they were relieved from their leprosy.

Lot of ancient famous temples are situated nearby this temple, and it is suggested to visit the Sooriyanar Temple, after visiting this temple. This temple was subsequently renovated and repaired by the Pallava kings.

The temple is located on the banks of the holy River Ma Kaveri.
