Pillayar Suzhi

Pillayar Suzhi is a type of holy symbol, and it is usually put in the diaries, before writing any new thing. Pillayar Suzhi is considered as a sacred form of symbol, and this Suzhi is considered as the giver of good luck. The system of writing Pillayar Suzhi is followed since ancient times, and as per our Hindu texts, even the saints and sages were used to first put the sacred Pillayar Suzhi, before writing any divine work on the palm leaf manuscripts. Lord Vinayaka also called as Pillayar, is the first god, and hence, we must have to strictly adopt the practice of putting the sacred “PILLAYAR SUZHI”, before writing any new thing using the pen and the paper.

Nowadays most of us are not doing any writing work using pen and paper, since we are entirely depending on the laptops and computers for typing the office works. Even if we regularly depends only on electronic equipment for typing work, we can attach a small picture of “PILLAYAR SUZHI” in our personal document, and then we can start doing our routine works in the computer. As per legend, it is also mentioned, that the medieval saints like Vyasaraja, Purandaradasa and Guru Raghavendra were used to put the holy mark of Pillayar Suzhi, in the palm leaf manuscripts before starting their holy works.

Ancient kings also encouraged the scholars to put the sacred symbol, “PILLAYAR SUZHI”, before doing their writing work, since it gives lot of courage, will power and wisdom to the writers. In some ancient texts, the significance of Pillayar Suzhi is also mentioned.

The great sage Kalidasa, used to always put the sacred symbol of the first god, and then only he used to start his work. But nowadays, due to the vast advancement in science and technology, most of the people are disinterested to put the sacred symbol on their works, by considering it as an ancient and out dated practice. They must always remember that they should not forbid our ancient customs and traditions, and must follow the ancient practice of putting the holy “PILLAYAR SUZHI” with much interest.
