Kolhapur Mahalakshmi
Kolhapur Mahalakshmi Temple is one of the famous Shakti Peeth temple in Maharashtra. It is one of the Ashtadasa Shakti Peeth, 18 ancient and powerful temples of Goddess Shakti.
Mahalakshmi temple complex of Kolhapur also enshrines Mahakali, Maha Saraswati, along with Mahalakshmi. ‘Karavira Mahatmya’ states the legend, origin, and importance of Kolhapur Shakti Peeth.
The legend says that demon Kolhasura was destroyed by Goddess Mahalakshmi here. Anotehr legend states that Goddess Parvati demolished demon Kolhasura at Tryambakeshwar.
