Nagamani, King Cobra’s Divine Stone..

Nagamani (or “snake-stone”) is a mythical, glittering jewel based in Indian belief and it is believed to rest on the forehead of a divine cobra. While it is highly believed that Nagamani would bring immense power, healing, and fortune, but based on latest science and technology, Nagamani is declared to be an ordinary stone, since snakes usually do not produce pearls or glittering gems.

A snake-stone, also known as a viper’s stone, snake’s pearl, black stone, serpent-stone, or nagamani is an animal bone or stone used as folk medicine for snake bite in Africa, South America, the Indian subcontinent and Asia.

If we go into the details of our ancient Puranas, the details about female gender of Cobra, which is popularly called as Nagarani was mentioned. Nagarani are considered to be female demi-goddesses and they contains super natural powers. Even in the popular Prahalada Purana, which tells lot of details about Prahalada, the meeting between the pious Bhagavata King and Nagarani was mentioned. In fact, our great Bhagavata Prahalada, being a staunch devotee of Lord Vishnu, prayed to Lord Garuda, in order to stop harming the snakes, especially the female gender of snakes. Lord Garuda had happily agreed to it, and in fact, he even gave a boon to Prahalad, that whoever (especially the snakes) chants the name of Bhagavata Prahalada would never get harmed by Garuda, and in fact, they would be protected by Bhagavan Garuda himself! These details can be found in the Prahalada Purana, and we can get it fully tasted after reading it thoroughly!

As per Vamana Purana, during the Treta Yuga, when Lord Vamana had pushed Mahabali in the underworld (The wonderful Sutala Loka), his grand father Prahalada also accompanied with him in that Loka. From there, he used to frequently visit the other underworlds also, like the Atala, Talatala, Rasatala, Vithala and the Patala Loka. Whenever Prahalada visit the Patala Loka, he used to get warm welcome from the snakes, and they used to treat him like God Vishnu himself!

If we read ancient Puranas, we could get to know lot of things from that, and of course, we could derive lot of good karmas from that! But most of us hesitate it, by considering it to be a bitter-guard! Since most of us want to know only about the latest hot news of the TV/Film Stars, Cricketers and of course the hot news about our politicians also!

Life is short, and of course it is a very, very complicated one! My main of being remaining as a Spiritual Writer is to mould the minds of the people in order to turn them into the path of Spirituality.

Few Years ago, a popular TV Series was tele-casted in Zee TV (Nagarani), and the story is based on an Ichchadaari Naagini (a shape-shifting snake) who avenges the murder of her parents by greedy humans. We can go through those popular TV Shows on YouTube Channel. And of course, at present I am interestingly viewing those YouTube Videos!
