Baba Maneknath (15th century AD) was a great saint who lived in the present day Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
He proved his spiritual powers to the people of Gujarat, and he was declared as a holy saint by the Mughal kings. Once he was hidden inside a small drum, in order to prove his powers, when he was tested by a king.He was good at meditation and yoga.
Baba Maneknath also relieved the diseases and cleared the sins of his devotees, and invoked the Bhakti spirit in the minds of the people. He took Samadhi near the banks of Sabarmati River and a temple is situated there.
The saint is widely worshipped by the people of Gujarat. He was a sincere devotee of Lord Ram, and used to recite the Rama Mantra, “JAI SRIRAM” regularly, and insisted the devotees, to do it frequently. There is a temple for him at Latol in Banaskantha district at Gujarat.
One of his descendants, Mahant Ghanshyamnath, performs puja at his temple on Vijayadashami festival day of every year.
