Khatu Shyam Mandir, 11th century Temple in Rajasthan

Khatusyam temple is one of the famous temples of Rajasthan and belonged to the deity which is worshipped by the name of God Krishna (Syam). The deity, actually, is Barbarika who was the son of Ghatotkacha and worshipped by the name of Lord Krishna because of a boon given him by Lord Krishna. The main temple which was built in 1027 AD by Roop Singh and his wife and renovated later on in 1720 AD by a Diwan Abhai Singh on behalf of the then ruler of Marwar.

Khatusyam temple is located at Khatu town of Sikar district in Rajasthan. The site is 80 Kilo meter far from the Jaipur city. The Architecture of the temple is very splendid as it is built using Lime Mortal, tiles, and marble; the brackets of the entrance and exit gate are also made out of marble shutters of Sanctum Santorum has beautiful silver sheets besides the main deity, there is also a Samadhi of great devotees located in the Syam Bagicha (garden).

There is a Syam Kund (Pond) which is considered very holy pond. It is near temple. Devotees believe that whoever takes dip into this holy Kund, their all ailments will be cured. It is considered so auspicious for the idol was retrieved from this Holy Kund, so a great number of devotees have bath into the holy Kund.

Phalgun Mela is main festival which is celebrated with enthusiasm every year besides Krishna Janmasthami, Ekadashi, Holi and Vasant Panchmi.
