For Ganesh Chaturthi 2013, Khairatabad Ganesh Pandal will construct the replica of Kedarnath Temple beside the main mammoth Ganapathi idol which would be installed on Vinayaka Chavithi day i.e. 9th September 2013.
Khairatabad Ganesh Utsav Committee has decided to put up a replica of the Kedarnath temple and an idol of Shiva at the Ganesh pandal this year to provide an opportunity for the devotees of Hyderabad to have darshan of Kedarnath Shiva Temple as the government of Uttarakhand announced the closure of Kedarnath Temple Yatra for next few years.
Other than Kedarnath Temple replica, Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Samithi will construct Lord Rama’s Pattabhisheka Mahotsavam and Sri Bhuvaneswari Devi’s idol beside the giant Ganesha.
According to the Khairatabad Ganesh Utsava Samithi of Hyderabad, “Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after 12 years of agnatavasam (exile) and his being crowned the king in Vijayanama samvastaram would also be marked as this year is also named Vijayanama samvastaram as per the Telugu panchangam. The committee has decided to showcase Sri Rama Pattabhisheka mahotsavam on the right side of the Ganesh idol, while on the left side would be the idol of Sri Bhuvaneswari Devi.”
It is to note that the committee has decided to make Ganesh with ‘Gonaga Chaturmukha’ (four faces). However, the height of the idol would be restricted to 59 feet only. For this, the designers are using 20 tonnes of steel and 20 tonnes of Plaster of Paris (PoP) for the idol.
Apart from all these, the mammoth jumbo laddu which will weigh 4,000 kgs (4 tonnes) would be appear in the hand of Vinayaka of Khairatabad Ganesha this year. Last year, the weight of the laddu was 3,500 kilograms. East Godavari-based sweet maker P Malle Babu is making all the preparations towards the jumbo laddu arrangement.
