The legend or Katha of Lord Kalabhairava
Lord Kalabhairava is an aspect of Lord Shiva. When Lord Brahma became headstrong, Shiva created Kalabhairav to cut his fifth head which was on top of his four heads. Kaal Bhairav sliced off Brahmas fifth head and made Brahma the ‘Chaturmukha. To get rid of the sin of ‘Brahma hatya, Kaal Bhairo visited all holy places in the world and finally consecrated in Kasi (Varanasi) as ‘Kshetra Palaka with the order of Shiva.
