Kala Johar at Naina Devi Temple

Kala Johar, also called ‘Chikshu Kund’ is an important holy place near Naina devi Temple of Himachal Pradesh. The skull of Chikshur, main commander of Mahishasur fell at this site. This is a holy place where people take bath to get rid of skin problems, especially children.

According to a legend, married ladies are blessed with children after taking bath in its water that otherwise have problems in having kids.

Naina Devi Mela is celebrated with utmost gusto at Naina Devi Temple, Naina Devi of Bilaspur district in Himachal Pradesh.

Naina Devi Mela is held thrice in a year – Chaitra Navratri (Vasant Navratri), Shravan Navratri and Ashwin Navratri (Sharad Navratri).

Other than the above three Navratri Melas, Makar Sankranti, Vasant Panchami, Mahashivratri, Holi, Ramanavami, Rakshabandhan, Sri Krishna Jayanti, Ganesh Chaturthi, Dussehra, Karvachauth Vrat and Diwali are the most famous festivals celebrated at Nainadevi Temple.

Nainadevi Temple is one of the 51 Shaktipeethas (51 ancient, powerful temples of Goddess Shakti).
