History of Govind Dev Ji Temple

Lord Shri Govind Dev Ji’s temple of Jaipur Rajasthan has a very prominent place as the other important temples of Lord Krishna in Vrindavan Mathura or rest of India. As the image of Lord Shri Govind Dev Ji, according to popular legend, is said to be exactly as lord Krishna was, because it was drawn by the great grandson of Lord Krishna as per the description given to him by his grandmother (daughter in law of Lord Krishna). Bajranbh succeed in drawing the exactly image of Lord Krishna at his third attempt.

In first image, he could draw only feet exactly like of Lord Krishna which is known as ‘Madan Mohan Ji’; at his second attempt, he could draw image in which only chest matched to Lord Krishna and the image is known as ‘Gopinath Ji’

As the image of Lord Govind Dev Ji was drawn by Bajranabh so it is also called by name of ‘Bajrakrati’ Bajranabh was only 13 years old when he has drawn this image, it is believed that the above incident took place near about 5000 years back.

King Sawai Jai Singh II who founded the Jaipur City got the idol of Lord Shri Govind Dev Ji from the Vrindavan, Mathura.

The temple is located in City Palace Complex of Jaipur Rajasthan, which is made out of the Red and Pink sand stone. The complex is a result of fusion of Silpa Shastra – Indian Architecture – along with Mughal and European style of Architecture.
Janmasthmi, birth anniversary of Lord Krishna is solemnized very enthusiastically; thousands of devotees came to worship at this time.
