Grandma Stories

Grandma stories are very famous among the young children. With their vast experience, the old grandmother would tell wonderful bhakti stories about Bhakta Prahalada, Dhruva and Markandeya, to their grandchildren and also to their friends, mostly during weekends, in the evenings by having a cup of coffee or tea with some snacks, but at this present modern world, people are finding it difficult even to converse with each other.

Daily most of the couples are hurrying up to their offices in the mornings, even without having proper breakfast. In the evenings they are returning homes with tiredness, and mental worries, and due to that, they are unable to spend time with their children. In order to take the role of the parents, the children grandparents are acting as their parents, by providing sufficient food, and sending them to the schools and colleges. They also used to tell the teachings of the great saints like Swami Vivekananda, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Guru Raghavendra Swamigal and Shirdi Saibaba, along with that, they used to share their own childhood experiences with them, and also would tell nice stories, and make them to generate good behaviour.

In ancient times, when there was no entertainment facilities like TV, Internet and Cinema, people used to discuss about general matters along with their neighbours during the evenings, in order to spend their time peacefully. Children’s parents as well as their grandparents would teach good things to them for their wellness. Most of the children would hear the advices of their parents and grandparents and would never disobey them. Joint family system was there in practice during the ancient times, and everyone in the family would show their love and affection on each other, and would never speak harsh words with their family members.

But now due to the changes in technology, everything was changed and most of the small children are not interested to properly listen to the stories told by their parents and their grandparents. They themselves are reading the stories from the Internet, and most of the children are not depending on anyone with regard to hearing of stories.
