Gangaur Teej (Gangaur Tritiya) is one of the popular Gauri Poojan festivals in Rajasthan and some surrounding areas of the state in western parts of India. In 2023, Gangaur Puja date is March 24.
Gangaur is dedicated to the divine couple Lord Shiva and Goddess Gauri. This vow is observed by married women for marital bliss and young girls for ideal husband. In 2023, Gangaur starts on March 8, the day after Holi, and ends on Chaitra Shukla Tritiya or Chaturthi, i.e. March 24.
While married women pray for the long life and well being of their husband, the unmarried girls seek the blessings of Goddess Gauri and Lord Shiva to get a good husband. Apart from this, the Gangaur festival also signifies the arrival of the spring season. The women fast during these 18 days and eat only one meal a day. Know more about Gangaur Poojan Vidhi here..
