Diti, Mother of Daityas (Rakshasas, Asuras, demons)

Diti is the consort of Rishi Kashyapa, and she was the mother of the Marutas, divine attendants of Lord Indra, and the Daityas. Diti is the daughter of Lord Daksha Bhagavan and Panchajani.

Aditi is her sister, and her sons were Hiranyakasipu and Hiranyaksha, who were killed by Lord Vishnu, and her daughter Holika was killed by Bhakta Prahalada.

She tried her level best to bring her Daitya sons into power, and she has asked them to perform penance on Lord Brahma in order to get good boons from him, and she maintained good relationship with the Daitya Guru Sukracharya, and treated him as her own Guru.

Diti was mentioned in ancient Vedas and other devotional texts, and she is described as a beautiful and charming woman, and she is the mother goddess, who would give all kinds of prosperity to us based on our sincere bhakti on her. It is believed that after her death, she went along with her consort Rishi Kashyapa to the Rishi Mandala.
