Deepavali Bommala Koluvu: Exhibition of dolls during Deepavali in Andhra Pradesh

Bommala Koluvu is a jubilant ceremony celebrated during Deepavali in Andhra Pradesh. Bommala Koluvu is a popular event during Dasara and Makara Sankranthi. It is an exhibition of various dolls and idols.

In Telugu, Bommalu means dolls or toys and koluvu is an arrangement. Bommai Kolu is the Tamil name for Bommala Koluvu and Golu is Malayali name.

Bommala Kolvu is mainly celebrated in the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh. Women and children arrange dolls in rows and columns. They prepare dolls and buy specially for this event and design a wooden box to display them.

Nowadays, some organizations and TV channels are conducting Bommala Koluvu competitions along with Rangoli competitions during Diwali. Women folk are actively participate in both the events.
