Bholenath is a form of Lord Shiva, and in this form he appears in a calm manner with a simple look, and he contains a smiling face, and he is easily approachable by anyone. He gives his blessings to his devotees just by simply reciting his name.
He would be very much pleased if we bath his holy lingam with water or milk, and by adorning him with the holy Bilva Leaves. Bholenath is the god of the god, and he is the Lord of the entire universe. North Indian people used to worship Lord Shiva in the name of Bholenath, and we can see lot of sweet shops in Maharashtra, with the name of “SRI BHOLENATH SWEET STALL”. Even the North Indian, cone ice vendors would mention the name of Bholenath, in their ice cream push cart, and those types of Vendors can be seen in the busy Broadway Road at Chennai.
Once a demon named Bhasmasura, began to meditate on Lord Shiva, and when Shiva appeared in front of him, he asked the boon that if he touches any person’s head with his hand, he should be burnt to Bhasma, ashes, and as per his request, Lord Shiva granted the boon to him. In order to test whether the boon would work with Shiva, he tried to place his hand on Lord Shiva’s head.Immediately Shiva sought the help of Lord Vishnu, and he took the beautiful Mohini Avatar, and destroyed the demon.
From the above incident we can know that how the great Lord Shiva showers his grace to his devotees, and he is the one, who fulfills all of our wishes, within a second. He is a great Yogi, who always lead a simple life, and that’s why he is called as Bholenath.
Lord Shiva is one among the Trimurtis, and he is worshipped by the devotees throughout the world. He has showed his divine vision to several sages, kings and the Nayanmar Saints, and still he is ready to shower his grace, and he is still appearing before his sincere devotees. At this Kali Yuga, bhakti only heals all of our diseases, and would make us to concentrate our mind in the correct path.
