Bada Itvaar, Vrat on Sundays in Bhadrapada Month

Bada Itvaar vrat is an auspicious puja observed in Bhadrapada Month as per North Indian Hindi calendar. It is dedicated to Surya Bhagavan (Sun God). On this day along with Surya Bhagavan, cow and calf (Go Maata) are also worshipped.

In 2018, Bada Itvaar vrat dates are: September 2, September 9, September 16 and September 23 as per North Indian Hindi calendars.

As per Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu & Kannada calendars, Bada Itvaar vrat dates are – September 16, September 23, September 30 and October 7.

Special recipes are offered to Surya Dev and Gomaata.

On Bada Itvaar vrat, the performer takes the food without salt. After offering the special recipes for Gomaata, performer needs to consume the food before sunset.
