Tiruppukkozhiyur Avinashi Lingeshwarar Temple Kumbabhishekam... Lord Shiva is considered as one of the powerful gods in Hinduism. Though he is treated as a god of destruction, yet he could be able to create and protect the entire universe. As per Shiva Purana, it was mentioned, that Lord Shiva takes two different forms as Vishnu and Brahma, and does the protection and creation work. From this, we could know that both Brahma and Vishnu are the two aspects of Lord Shiva.

Avainasiappar temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in Avinasi, in Tiruppur district of Tamil Nadu. Here Lord Shiva is worshipped as Avinasiappar, and as usual in this temple, he is represented by the form of Shiva Lingam, and Ma Parvati is depicted as Karunambigai. The presiding deity is praised in Tevaram, written by the Nayanars and this wonderful temple is classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. Karunambikaiyamman Udanamar Avinashilingeswarar Temple is famous for being the shrine where the boy who was swallowed by a crocodile was brought back to life by Sundarar Nayanar Devara Bhatikam.

The temple has six daily rituals at various times from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and four yearly festivals on its calendar. The Brahmotsavam festival is celebrated during the day of the Magam (February – March) which is considered to be the most famous festival.

This temple also was mentioned in Tirumular’s Thirumantiram, Arunagirinathar’s Tiruppugazh and Manikkavacakar’s Tiruvasakam.This temple Kumbabhishek ceremony started with Ganesha Puja, and the Kumbabhishek ceremony was held on 2nd February 2024. The eight-period Velvi Puja was held from 29th to Friday 2nd February, 2024.

The main event is the Kumbabishekam ceremony of pouring holy water on the urns between 9.15 am to 10.15 am on Friday 2nd February. 79 yagashalas had been set up for this and 100 Shivacharyas were participated in the Kumbabhishek event as per Agama norms. Thirukalyanam was held at 6 pm on February 2nd,2024, and Swami Thiruveethi Ula at 8 pm.
Since this is the most famous temple of Tirupur district, many devotees from not only Tirupur but also neighbouring districts visit the Kumbabhishekham event, so all kinds of arrangements including security were made.
