Ashunya Shayan Dwitiya 2022 | Ashunya Sayana Vrata

Ashunya Shayan Dwitiya Vrata (Ashunya Sayana Vrat) is an important austerity dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. In 2022, Ashunya Shayan Dwitiya Vrat date in North India is July 15.

It is observed on Krishna Paksha Dwitiya in Shravan Month as per North Indian calendars. It coincides with Ashada Krishna Dwitiya as per Marathi, Gujarati, Telugu and Kannada calendars. In some places, this vrata is also observed in Kartik Month.

Vishnu Shayanotsav is the main ritual of Ashunya Shayan Vrata. On the occasion of Vrata, Lord Vishnu and Goddess Laxmi are worshipped with Shodashopachar (16 types of puja rituals). Ashunya Shayan Vrata is observed by married couple for marital bliss and welfare of the family.

In some regions, Ashunya Shayan Vrata is also observed in Karthik Month. And some other devotees observe it throughout Chaturmas period (four holy months in Hinduism).
