Vishwakarma or Biswakarma
Vishwakarma Jayanti or Biswakarma Diwas is the first appearance day or birthday of Lord Vishwakarma, the Hindu God of architecture and engineering. In 2025, Vishwakarma Jayanti date is September 17.
It is celebrated with lot of gusto in industrial towns of West Bengal, Odisha, Tripura, Assam, some other North Indian states, Eastern parts of India, and Bangladesh.
Vishwakarma is the divine architect, designer, and craftsman of constructions as per the Hindu religious history. He is the creator of ‘Vajrayudha’ (a weapon made from the bones of King Dadhichi), Lanka of Ravana, Pushpaka Vimana, and many other cities, weapons, and instruments in the period of Puranas. Vishwakarma Jayanti usually falls on ‘Kanya Sankranti’.
Vishwakarma puja is also celebrated on the next day of Diwali. In some North Indian states and western parts of India celebrate Vishwakarma Puja on Shukla Paksha Trayodasi in Magh month.
September 17, 2025 is Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Ashwin Maas in North Indian Hindi calendars, and Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Bhadrapada Maas in Chandramana Amavasyant calendars such as Marathi, Gujarati, Kannada and Telugu Panchangams.
September 17, 2025 is Kanya Sankranti and it marks the beginning of Kanni Masam of Malayalam calendar, Purattasi Masam of Tamil calendar, Aashin Maas of Bengali Panjika and Ashwin Maas of Nepali Patro.
