According to the local legends, it is one of the four most important days for Hindus. On this particular day saint Veda Vyas and Lord Ganesha successfully began to write the great epic Mahabharata.

It is the birthday of Lord Parasurama (the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu). According to the Hindu religious scholars and pundits, the term Akshaya means “infinite that which never recede”. As per the Hindu and Jain traditional calendar, there are some days of the month which becomes totally absent or come extra in a calendar year but Akshay tritiya is one special day that never skips from the lunar Calendar.

In Sanskrit language, the term “Akshaya” means never diminishing and it is strongly believed that this day will bring success and good luck to each and every individual.

It is also believed that charity on this day will bring blessing from the Lord. ‘Mrutika’ also worshipped on ‘Akshay Tritiya’. A marketing gimmick is practiced by the jewelers in order to make the people purchase gold at a given market rate.

It is believed that Akshaya Tritiya brings prosperity to all. Among the Hindu communities, most of the business ventures and construction activities are started on this particular auspicious day.
