Sankaracharya was considered as the greatest philosophers in Hinduism. Shankara was the first and foremost philosopher who explained the concepts of “Aatma” (soul), “Paramathma” (divine soul), “Vairagya” (renunciation) and “Moksha” (salvation). He wrote Bhashyas or commentaries on all Vedas, and ithihasas like Bhagvad Gita. He established many Maths or Peethas all over India.

Ramanujacharya Jayanti

Ramanujacharya Jayanti or Ramanuja Jayanthi is an auspicious day to celebrate the birth anniversary of Ramanujacharya, the leading expounder of Vishista Advaita. In 2022, Ramanuja Jayanti date is May 6. In Tamil Nadu and some other places, it is observed on May 6. In some North Indian Hindi Calendars, Ramanujacharya Jayanti date is mentioned as May 5.

Also known as Ethirajar, Yatiraja, Emperumannar, Lakshmana Muni, Ramanujacharya was born on 1017 and spread Hinduism and the concept of way of life till his last breath in 1137.

The philosophy of Ramanuja is referred to as Vishishta Advaita as it combines oneness of God (Advaitha) with its attributes (Vishesha).
