15 Wonderful Stories from Srimad Bhagavatham… The Bhagavata Purana also popularly known as Srimad Krishna Bhagavatam, Bhagavata Navaratna and Bhagavatha Maharatna, is an ancient holy text, which was written by Sri Veda Vyasa, as per the instructions given by Deva Rishi Narada.

The Bhagavata Purana, covers lot of areas including devotional stories, and also about the famous Bhagavatas like Dhuruva and Prahalada. This Purana tells about the greatness of Lord Krishna, an avatar of Lord Vishnu, and according to this epic, Krishna is considered as the supreme controller of the whole universe. It is believed that by reading this Purana, devotees would be relieved from their various problems like diseases, unnecessary fear in their mind, enemy related problems and from their bad habits like lust, anger and greed etc.

Once, even after writing the holy epic Mahabharata, Rishi Veda Vyasa didn’t get complete satisfaction, and he looked worrisome. One day Rishi Narad had appeared before Veda Vyasa and asked him the reason for his sadness. Veda Vyasa had replied, that even after writing the holy Mahabharata according to his level best, still he didn’t get entire satisfaction from his writing. On hearing this, Rishi Narada had meditated for some time on Lord Vishnu, and with a smiling face, he answered, “Oh! The great Vyasa Maharishi, I have understood the reason behind your sadness! Though you have written about Lord Krishna in Mahabharata, but you have mentioned about him only in a brief manner. I humbly request you to write about Lord Krishna in a detailed manner, mainly by explaining about his childhood miracles and Leelas in detail, and by doing that, you would get full satisfaction with your holy works”.

Rishi Veda Vyasa has also agreed to do like that, and he began to write the details about Lord Krishna in an elaborate manner, and named the holy epic, as “SRIMAD SRI KRISHNA BHAGAVATHAM”. This epic was also recited by Sri Shuka Brahma Rishi to the great King Parikshit, for a period of seven days, and after hearing the holy epic with utmost bhakti, Rishi Parikshit had attained salvation.

Since Lord Krishna dwells in the holy epic Srimad Bhagavatham, whoever read this holy epic sincerely would shine brightly in their lives. Lord Krishna is the supreme god, and he is the avatar of Lord Vishnu. He was born during the Dwapara Yuga, and done lot of mischievous activities and performed many miracles. He used to steal butter in the neighbour’s house, replace lot of things in their house, but pretends himself to be an innocent boy. The people in Gokulam have done lot of good karmas, since they witnessed the beautiful playful activities of child Krishna. Whatever act he performs, no one would get angry on him, and instead of that, they would get more affection on him, due to his lovely smile.

Lord Krishna had killed lot of demons very easily, and reduced the burden of the earth goddess, also known as Mata Bhudevi. Both Krishna and Balaram are very good boys and had stolen the hearts of the people in Gokulam. Due to their presence, no one had suffered from illness, mental tension and mental disorders. Every one lived happily with the presence of the divine child Lord Krishna and Balaram. Lord Krishna took the avatar, in order to make the people to move in the right path, and gave good guidance for living a noble life through his famous Bhagavat Gita.

Lord Krishna had done lot of miracles, especially during his childhood, once by breaking the holy Maruta tree, Lord Krishna had relieved from the curse of the Kubera’s sons, and made them to go back to their own kingdom. In order to control our mind from unwanted activities and in order to do a peaceful meditation, we must involve ourselves in the divine thoughts on Lord Krishna.

Today, Shukla Chaturdashi in Vaishakha Maasa, being the auspicious Narasimha Jayanti Festival Day, I have got the opportunity to listen to the SRIMAD BHAGAVATHAM UPANYASAM conducted at our premises, and the discourse was given by an elderly spiritual person.
