Rishi Panchami Celebrations, Rituals on Rushi Panchami

Rishi Panchami is one of the most celebrated festivals in North Indian states and Nepal. In 2017, the date of Rishi Panchami is August 26.

In North India, Rishi Panchami is obsereved as the concluding day of Hartalika Vrat, which is performed for three days (Hartalika Gauri vrat, Ganesh Chaturthi and Rishi Panchami).

Rushi Panchamiis not an important festival for South India. In some places of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, Rishi Panchami is observed in festive mood.

In Kerala, Rishi Panchami is observed as Vishwakarma Puja, whereas for other places of India Vishwakarma Pooja is celebrated on September 17.

Rishi Panchami is observed on the next day to Ganesh Chaturthiin Shukla Paksha during Bhadrapada month.
