Jyeshta month, or Jyeshta maas or Jyeshta mahina (May-June) is the third month in traditional Hindi lunar calendar followed in North India. In 2012, Jyeshta mahina begins on May 6 and end on June 4 as per North Indian Hindi Hindu calendars.
Jyeshta is also one of the 27 nakshatras in Hindu Astrology. Jyeshta month falls when Purnima or Full Moon day (or before or after a day or couple) of the month coincides with Jyeshta nakshatra.
The major and important festivals in Jyeshta month 2012 are – Narmada Pushkar Mahotsav (May 17, 2012) Shani Jayanti (May 20, 2012), Ganga Dussehra (May 21, 2012: Dasapapa hara Dasami) and Jagannath Purnima (Vat Purnima Vrata or Vat Savitri Vrat) – June 4, 2012.
