Hanuman Jayanti 2015, Hanuman Jayanti 2015 date, when is Hanuman Jayanti in 2015?

Hanuman Jayanti (Hanumath Jayanti) is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Hanuman. It is celebrated on Chaitra Purnima, the 15th day of the Shukla Paksha of Chaitra Month, in Hindu calendar. In 2015, Hanuman Jayanti date is April 4.

Hanuman is an ardent devotee of Lord Rama, and is worshipped for his unflinching devotion to the god. Hanuman is also referred as ‘Sri Ramadoota’ or ‘Sri Ramabantu’ in many scriptures.

In Maharashtra, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day (purnima) of Chaitra month. Some parts of Telangana (Hyderabad), Seemandhra and Karnataka, also celebrate Hanuman Jayanti on Chaitra Purnima.

According to some Gujarati Panchangas and Rajasthani calendars, the birthday of Hanuman falls on the fourteenth day (chaturdashi) in the dark fortnight of the month of Ashvin.

In the states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, the Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in the month of Margazhi (normally comes between Dec 15 and Jan 14). There it is believed that Hanuman or Anjaneya was born on Moola Nakshatra, on the new moon day (amavasya) in Margazhi month of Tamil calendar.

In Odisha, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the first day of Vaisakha month as per Oriya calendar (normally comes on April 14 or 15). There it is also celebrated as new year for all Oriyas (i.e. Maha Vishuva Sankranti).

In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on Vaishaka Krishna Dashami (10th day of Krishna/Bahula Paksha in Vaishaka Masam). 13 May 2015 is Vaishakha Masa Hanuman Jayanti.
