King Vikukshi

Vikukshi is a King of the Ishvaku dynasty. He is the son of Ishvaku and the father of Kakustha. He was the ancestor of Lord Rama, and he ruled the kingdom of Ayodhya in a well-versed manner. He provided shelters for the travellers, and opened annadana choultries throughout the country, for the benefit of the people. He also heard the problems of the people, and tackled it in a proper manner.

Once, Vikukshi went to the forest to bring some animal flesh for sacrifice to be performed by his father. After hunting animals, the prince felt very hungry, and ate some portion of the meat kept for the sacrifice. Due to that, his father had banished him from the Kingdom.

Vikukshi went to the forest and done penance on Lord Vishnu and obtained great spiritual powers, and went back to his kingdom and become the king after the death of his father Ishwaku.

Let us worship the great king Vikukshi and be blessed.
