Vaikuntha Dwadasi is observed on Dhanurmasa Dwadasi as per the Vaishnava tradition followed in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
In 2013, there is no Vaikuntha Dwadasi as there is no Shukla Paksha Dwadasi of Dhanurmasam in this year. As Dhanurmasam continues till 13 January 2013, Vaikuntha Dwadasi of 23 December 2012 is considered as for this year too.
Vaikuntha Dwadasi has great significance for Vaishnava tradition for those who consider it as a highly meritorious day to perform Vishnu Puja.
Mukkoti Pradakshinam in Tirumala Tirupati Temple allows common devotees to visit Lord Venkateshwara from the nearest. Swami Pushkarini Tirtham is considered highly meritorious tirtham to perform Punya Snanam (ritual bath) on Vaikuntha Dwadasi.
Vaikuntha Dwadasi is also referred to as Mukkoti Dwadasi in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu; and Swargavathil Dwadasi in Kerala.
