30 November 2021 is Utpatti or Utpanna Ekadasi vrat. It falls on Krishna Paksha Ekadashi in Margashirsha Month in North Indian calendars and in Karthik month as per Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati & Marathi calendars. Utpatti Ekadasi vrat katha is associated with the origin of Ekadasi vrat in fact the birth of ‘Ekadasi Mata’ and the demolition of demon Murasura.
When Lord Vishnu was sleeping, Murasura attempted to kill Vishnu. To protect the Lord from Mura, Ekadasi Mata killed him. In order to pay honor to her, Lord Vishnu blessed him that his Vrata will be known as ‘Ekadasi vrata’ and those who will observe Ekadasi vrata will be blessed with eternal happiness.
Alandi Palkhi Yatra is a grand procession observed in Alandi, Pune district of Maharashtra.
Observing upvas and chanting Vishnu sahasranama are the best rituals of Utpatti Ekadasi.
