Uthpanna Ekadashi or Uthpatti Ekadasi is observed on Margashirsha Krishna Ekadashi, the eleventh day during Margashirsh month. In 2015, Uthpanna Ekadashi date is December 7.
As per the Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and Gujarati calendars, Uthpatti Ekadasi falls on Kartik Krishna Ekadashi.
The legend or Vrat katha of Uthpanna Ekadashi is associated with the birth of ‘Ekadashi Mata, Goddess Eakdashi, and ‘Murasur Vadha (slaying of demon Murasura).
Vrata niyama of this Ekadashi vrata are same as all other Ekadasi vrat. The fasting will be broken on Dwadashi day. Ekadashi Mata is worshipped along with Sri Maha Vishnu during Uthpanna Ekadashi.
