Thiruverkadu Devi Karumariamman Temple is a Hindu temple in Tiruverkadu, located near Chennai and the deity of the temple is Karumariamman. The idol present in the sanctum sanctorum looks in a graceful form with all Divine features. There is also a shrine for Karumariamman idol with the idol made of wood. She is called Wooden Idol Amman (MARACHSILAIAMMAN). Sunday, is celebrated as an auspicious day at this temple. One can happily witness the scene of sun rays falling on the head of Devikarumari twice a year.

The Devi Karumariamman temple in Thiruverkadu will get three new gopurams (towers) as part of its kumbabishekam, and it was decided by the TNHED recently. The works are to be part of two projects worth around ₹80 crore and are expected to be completed within two years.

The annadhanam mandapam is also being expanded with a waiting hall on the ground floor, and the first floor will house the annadhana koodam and the second floor will have rooms for miscellaneous uses. The pongal mandapam, where devotees cook pongal offerings in the open, will be shifted from the Rajagopuram side to the north side, where hair tonsure and ear-piercing halls will come up.

A smaller wedding hall with a seating capacity of 200 persons and 40 cottages will also be built. Minister for Endowments had inaugurated the renovation work of Sri Devi Karumariamman Temple in Tiruverkadu recently for the consecration of the Rajagopuram.

Earlier, special pujas and abishek(Holy Bath) rituals were performed to the presiding deity of the temple and all the deities in the prakara. Special yaagas and homas were performed under the leadership of Pichai Sivachariyar on the occasion of the commencement of the renovation work.

According to Agama rules, Kumbabhishekam should be performed once in 12 years. The consecration of the temple was held in 2006. In the year 2018, the renovation work should have been carried out according to the Agama system and the consecration didn’t happen due to the Corona period.

The Balalayam was held under the leadership of Pichai Sivachariyar. The temple will be renovated at a cost of Rs 18 crore, including the marriage hall, the devotee hostel, widening of the prakara, the temple mandapam, the Rajagopuram and the renovation of the granite stone. The renovation work will be carried out for about two years and the consecration ceremony will be conducted soon with the grace of Ma Thiruverkadu Karumariamma.

    This article appearing I anxiously expected date of Kumbhabhishekam. But there is nothing on the subject. Why? If you put an old article then the earlier date connected to it should be mentioned. But disappointed to see nothing neither the forthcoming event or the past date of event.
