Sri Thavalagiriswarar Temple is situated in Vengundram Hills, Vandavasi, Tamil Nadu. Similar to climbing the Holy Saduragiri Hills and the sacred Parvata Malai, we have to climb several steps to reach the top of the Thavalagiriswarar Temple, in order to have the wonderful Shiva Darshan. In this temple, Lord Shiva is worshipped as Sri Thavalalgiriswarar. It is believed that some Siddhar Saints are also lives nearby this temple by taking the form of animals and birds. As per ancient legend, once a Rishi came to this place, took the form of Thavalai(Frog) in order to peacefully meditate at this temple, and hence this temple came to be known as Sri Thavalagiriswarar. The great Siddhar Saint Sri Thirumoolar has also visited this wonderful temple, and sung few songs on Lord Shiva, and some of the verses from those songs are as follows:-
Lord Shiva who is the king of the entire universe, is adorned with flowers on his hair, adorns snakes on his neck, and he showers abundant love and affection on us. Let us joyfully dance and dance and praise him by the way of singing glorious songs about him, and let us visit the Holy Thavalagiriswarar Temple.
Instead of cultivating bad habits, let us tightly hold the lotus feet of Lord Thavalagiriswarar, and let us think only about him.
Let us get rid from worldly illusions in order to reach the holy feet of Lord Thavalagiriswarar, and let us wilfully visit the Holy Thavalagiriswarar Temple at least once in our life time.
We are all the servants of Lord Thavalagiriswarar, hence, let us leave enjoying the worldly pleasures, let us get rid from this perishable human body, and let us take a divine form in order to enter into the abode of Lord Shiva.
Let Lord Shiva who is in the form of Sri Thavalagiriswarar, removes our sins and diseases, and let him wilfully take us to his abode.
Those who are desirous of reaching the holy feet of Lord Thavalagiriswarar, must have to cultivate lot of Shiva Bhakti, in order to get rid from the chain of repeated birth cycles in this difficult world.
Oh Lord Thavalagiriswara, the five faced god, you are greater than Lord Shiva and Vishnu, who have not seen your full divine form. There is no word to express your wonderful features. You are the most powerful god and you used to perform your duties in an excellent manner.
Let us sanctify Lord Thavalagiriswarar, by the way of offering flowers to him and let us do this holy act forever in our life.
