Skanda Sashti at Skandagiri Temple, Hyderabad

Maha Skandashasti is one of the famous festivals celebrated at Skandagiri Subramanyaswamy Temple, Hyderabad. It is a six-day festival celebrated in the Tamil month of Aippasi Masam. In 2018, Skanda Sashti starts on November 8 and ends on November 13. Soorasamharam & Thirukalyanam are on 13 and 14 November respectively.

Skandagiri Subramanya Swamy Temple located at Padmarao nagar in Secunderabad Hyderabad is the famous temple dedicated to Subramanya swamy in twin cities.

Monthly Shashti, Sankashtahara Chaturthi, Tuesdays, Ashtami, etc.. are the monthly utsavams celebrated at the temple apart from big festivals like Skanda Sashti, Hanuman Jayanti, Maha Shivaratri, Navaratri, etc..

Skanda Sashti is celebrated throughout Tamilnadu, Kerala and some places of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and in other countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Sri Lanka.

During Skanda Shashti, some devotees observed fasting for all six days but some other people keep fasting only on Soora Samharam day.

Skanda Shashti Puaj is generally observed for six days starting from the sixth day in the bright half of the Aippasi month according to Tamil calendar. Aippasi month usually falls during October – November.
