In the district of Chennai, Sri Soumya Damodara Perumal temple is situated in Konnur in the sub-urban town known as Villivakkam, in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. The Chief deity of this temple is Soumya Damodara Perumal (Lord Krishna) and his consorts are Amirthavalli.
This temple is nearly 500 years old in this region. The historical name of this place is Vilwaranyam. The holy tree of this temple is none. The holy water of this temple is Amirtha Pushkarini. The agamam or pooja of this temple is called as Vaikanasam.
In this shrine the primary festivals are Gokhulastami in August-September, Vaikasi Brahmmotsavam in February-March, Navarathri in September-October, wedding festival in Panguni Uthiram and Masi Magam float festival in February-March are celebrated in grand manner. Only as Child Kannan, Devotees and pilgrims see the Lord. On the presiding and procession deities, the rope scar is clearly visible on both.
With a three tier Rajagopuram, the temple greets all the Hindus. The temple is open for all the devotees and pilgrims from 6.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. In a standing form, Lord Perumal graces the devotees. The tower above the sanctum sanctorum or Vimana is called Ananda Vimanam.
There are separate shrines within the temple complex for Lord Sri Rama, Sri Andal, Kannan, Sri Anjaneya, Acharya Sri Ramanuja and Nammalwar. It is the most sought after temple belong to the ancient temple category. Devotees offer butter and Milk Porridge as nivedhana and perform special Tirumanjanam to Lord
