During a solar eclipse, the moon hides the rays of the sun for some time, and it would occur once in 18 months. Solar eclipses are of three kinds, they are: total solar eclipse, partial solar eclipse, and annular solar eclipse, and the solar eclipses can be seen in few places only.In general it is not recommended to see a solar eclipse through naked eyes. We have to wear safety glasses, in order to avoid any harm to the eyes.
A lunar eclipse occurs when the earth passes in between the moon and the sun, and during the time of lunar eclipse, the earth’s shade partially or fully hides the moon for a short period of time.
Lunar eclipse would usually occur two times in a year. There are three types of lunar eclipses, total lunar eclipse, partial lunar eclipse and a penumbral lunar eclipse. Lunar eclipses can be seen in many places. It mostly occurs only during nights, and we can see a lunar eclipse with naked eyes, and there is no need to wear any protective glasses for viewing it.During the time of Solar and Lunar eclipse, the entire surface of the sun and the moon would be covered with full of darkness, and we could not clearly see the vision of the sun and the moon for some time.
Similar to our sufferings from illness, for some time, the sun and the moon are also getting suffered as per the laid down rules of the god.
From this eclipses, we can know that even the divine gods had to suffer for some time in their life. In case of Brahmin community people who don’t have their father or mother, or both, they must compulsorily do PitruTharpanam on Solar and Lunar Eclipse days.
