Swami Sivananda Radha Saraswati (1911–1995) was a saint who was the founder of the Yasodhara Ashram in British Columbia. She was a disciple of Swami Sivananda, and published Yoga and spiritual books. Sivananda Radha was considered as an important disciple of Swamy Sivananda.
She was a Psychology teacher and helped the students towards turning their minds in spiritual activities. Her birth name was Ursula Sylvia Hellman.
Sivananda Radha was born in Germany in the year 1911. She was a well-known spiritual writer, and a dancer. After the death of her husband and her parents, she lost hope in her life, and was very much depressed.In the year 1951, she went to Canada and for some time worked in a private concern. After knowing about the greatness of Swamy Sivanananda from her friend, she went to India and met Sivananda Saraswati at his Rishikesh Ashram.
Sivananda made her to realize the purpose of living a noble life. He discussed with her on lot of topics, which was created a good change in her mind, and she has become a saint and was given the sainthood name “Sivananda Radha Saraswati” in the year 1956. Once she also had a vision of Mahaavatar Babaji, and through his divine grace, she got great strength in her mind and body.
In the year 1957, in British Columbia, she founded the Yasodhara Ashram, and she gave lectures on spirituality, teachings of Swamy Sivananda and also taught yoga and meditation to the people. She also opened a book store, in which, full of spiritual, psychology and yoga books were filled up. Mata Sivananda Radha also gave sainthood to her disciples and followers.
She gave spiritual lectures in American universities among the students, and taught them the philosophies of Hinduism.
