Mata Amritanandamayi Devi was born in the year 1953, who is fondly called by her devotees as Amma (“Mother”), is a Spiritual leader, guru and kind hearted humanitarian, who used to hug her devotees as an act of expressing her love and affection on them. She is the chancellor of the popular university Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, and her birth name was Sudhamani.

Females are the wonderful creations of the almighty, and, all the females present in the world, are considered as the holy incarnations of Ma Shakti Devi. According to the famous Tamil poet, Sri Kavimani Desikavinayakam Pillai, “One has to do lot of good karmas in order to take birth as a female”. As per an ancient Tamil Song, proper rain would shower in the places where women are treated with much respect, and all the food crops would grow properly, and our holy mother Mata Amirtananda Mayi is the best female, an affectionate mother, a kind guru, a wonderful saint, in the present day world. Ma Amirtananda Mayi’s merciful love towards her children cannot be explained in words, since she showers her unconditional mercy on us like the heavy rain.

In 2018, she was honoured for her greatest contribution to the Government of India’s Clean India Campaign Swachh Bharat Mission, and she also received awards for her noble works.
Mata Amritanandamayi Devi is an Indian guru from Amritapuri, Kollam District, Kerala, and she was born in the fisherman community. Mata Amritanandamayi used to exchange soft words between the people in order to give some sort of comfort to them. She considered herself as a dutiful doctor and used to treat her devotees with her kind smile, which would be permanently found on her face! She also used to conduct Bhajans in order to spread the importance of spirituality throughout the world. The Mata Amrtanandamayi Math was founded in order to continuously render spiritual and charitable activities, and she also conducted spiritual programs throughout the world.

Amma accepts the various spiritual practices and prayers of all the religions as the way of purifying the mind, and she also stresses the importance of doing meditation, Yoga, observing patience, forgiveness and self-control, etc.

In India, the Mata Amrtanandamayi Math provides free meals to millions and millions of poor people through its various centres. Mata Amritanandamayi Math runs an orphanage for children in Kerala, and also a children’s home in Nairobi. The Mata Amritanandamayi Math manages the hospital Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences in Kochi, which it launched in 1998.
