Srisailam Temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, which is located at Srisailam at Andhra Pradesh, and with regard to its holiness, it is considered similar to the Tirumala, Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple, and it is one of the Jyothirlinga Shtalams. Here Lord Shiva is known as Mallikarjuna and his consort, Ma Parvati is known as Ma Brahmarambika. It is believed, that those who visit the holy Srisailam at least once in their life time would be relieved from their sins, and they would prosper in their lives.
In this sacred Temple, daily hundreds of devotees are being offered wholesome sumptuous meals with a pleasing smile. The Annadanam scheme is being run without any interruption, and most of the devotees are utilising this facility, by the way of quenching their thirst and by filling up their stomach, with a great relief.
Those who are interested to participate in the sacred Annadanam scheme can contact the temple officials, for knowing about further details.
The temple is maintained and administered by the government of Andhra Pradesh.
Lord Shiva in this temple is referred to as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. This temple is mentioned in Shaivite Texts, and it is praised by ancient Shaivite Saints.
During the Mughal era, the Srisailam temple was destroyed, but it was subsequently re-built by the Maratha Queen Ma Ahilyabai Holkar, who was considered to be one of the most precious “GEM” amongst the ancient Indian Queens.
Mahashivratri is the chief festival celebrated at Srisailam Mallikarjuna Swamy temple.
