Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple, Afghanistan

Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple, Afghanistan. Shiva Temple in Afghanistan.. Lord Shiva is worshipped in various names all over the world, and once he was worshipped by the people in the entire world, but after the emergence of religions like Islamism, Jainism, Buddhism and Christianity, Shiva worship were prevailed only in certain parts of the world.

While Afghanistan does not have any functioning of Shiva temples today, once there was a wonderful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which was known as the Sri Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple in the Kandahar City of Afghanistan, which was known as Kandhara during the Mahabharat period. Historical evidence suggests the presence of this wonderful Shiva temple in the present-day Kandahar. This temple was supposed to have been built by an Indian Hindu King approximately 1500 years before! Later due to the rise of Islam had led to the destruction of this temple, by some miscreants!

Sri Sarveshwar Mahadev Temple once was the largest Hindu temple in Afghanistan, and has been described as a marvellous temple in some ancient spiritual books. Along with Shiva, in this temple there were also idols of Ma Parvati, Vinayaka, Muruga and the creator God Brahma and Vishnu. It was believed that the idols of the 63 Nayanmar Saints were also installed in this temple.

Most of us will be having the question in our mind. Why the temples have been destroyed, and why god is not controlling such an act? The reason behind that is, even in case of god, they have to rely on the fate, and will not change the fate, as and when required. Even if they come to this earth as an avatar, they will have to struggle a lot, and they will express their powers only in case of exceptional circumstances only! They are the humble and worshipful deities, and due to their powers only, somehow, we are able to survive in our life in this present-day difficult life.

Hence, let us regularly pray to the almighty to at least preserve the present-day temples from destruction, and during our life time itself, let us plan to visit more and more temples as much as we can.
