Purattasi Fasting (Purattasi Viratham) is a month-long vritham observed in Purattasi Month in Tamil calendar. In 2022, Purattasi Month begins on September 18 and ends on October 17.
Pitru Paksha, Devi Navarathri (Durga Ashtami & Mahanavami) and Vijayadashami are the big festivals celebrated in the month of Purattasi.
Even though, Purattasi Sani (Saturdays in Purattasi Month) are considered highly auspicious, some staunch devotees observe fasting during the whole month. The procedure of fasting may vary devotee to devotee.
Purattasi Fasting – September 18 to October 17
Purattasi Sani Fasting dates – September 24, October 1, October 8 and October 15.
