Sri Prasanna Venkatesar temple is located in the town named as Madurai in the district of Madurai, in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. The important deity of this temple is Prasanna Venkatesar (Lord Krishna) and his consort is Alarmel Mangai. The festival deity is Srinivasar.

According to the local legends, “Lord Perumal in the temple is a Swayambumurthi. Lord Maha Ganapathi in a standing posture paying respects to Uncle Perumal and holding discus and conch in His hands is a different depiction of Lord Vinayaka in the temple. Sri Garuda Bhagwan is at His feet in a worshipping posture.” Other deities in this shrine are Sri Anjali Anjaneya, Sudharsana, Azhwars saints, Lords Perumal in reclining form, Sri Rama, Narasimha, Panduranga with Mother Ragumayi and Mother Natana Gopala Nayaki.
