Lord Pranaveswarar is one of the marvellous names of Lord Muruga. In Tirupanthurai Shivanandeswarar Temple, there is a separate shrine dedicated for Lord Muruga, and in that temple, he is called as Sri Pranaveswarar, since Lord Muruga has taught the meaning of the Pranava Mantra to Lord Shiva himself during his childhood. Since Lord Muruga felt worried about the teaching of the Pranava Mantra to his father Lord Siva himself, in the form of a Guru, in this temple, Lord Muruga has established a Shiva Lingam and worshipped him sincerely.
Pleased by the devotion of his son Lord Muruga, Shiva has appeared before him and consoled him by telling that both of them are one and the same. Similar to Lord Shaneeswara, Muneeswara and Nandikeswara, in this temple, Lord Murugan has also obtained the Eswara title.
Those who suffer from speech disorders and from throat problems are advised to visit and worship Lord Muruga at this excellent temple, in order to get relieved from their ailments. Murugan devotees would gather in large numbers at this temple, especially during festivals like Kanda Shasti, Thai Poosam and Karthigai Deepam. In this temple, Lord Muruga is worshipped in the form of Divine Guru, and we can also pleasantly hear the wonderful chants of the Murugan Devotees, “OM SRI GURU SHIVA SUBRAMANYA SWAMIYE NAMAHA”.
Lord Muruga occupies an important place in the Hindu Religion, and he is also worshipped similar to the Trimurti. But compared with Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Vinayaka, there are only lesser number of temples dedicated to Lord Muruga in India. People in North India, mostly considers Lord Murugan as a Tamil God, and due to that, some of them ignores to worship him. They should always remember that Lord Murugais a Universal God, and he must be worshipped similar to Lord Shiva, Vishnu and Vinayaka.
More number of temples must be constructed for Lord Muruga in North India, in order to propagate the “MURUGAN BHAKTI” amongst the North Indians also.People must understand that if they fail to worship Lord Muruga, then the great Lord Muruga is not going to lose anything, but only those ignores him, would lose the divine friendship with our precious god Muruga.
