Popular Shiva Temples in North India, Nepal

In North India, Shivarathri is the most popular and most sought after festival. On this auspicious day, devotees and pilgrims visit popular Shiva temple. Here is the List of popular and ancient Shiva temples that are located in Northern part of India.

In the state of Uttarakhand are located Daksheswara Mahadev Temple, in Kankhal,    Rudreshwar Mahadev Temple, Baleshwar Temple, in Champawat, Gopinath Mandir, Chamoli Gopeshwar, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, near Rishikesh, Panch Kedar,        Kedarnath Temple, Kedarnath– one of the most revered temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Tungnath, in Chamoli district, Rudranath, Madhyamaheshwar and         Kalpeshwar.

In the state of Assam are located Sukreswar Temple, in Guwahati and Sivadol, in Sivasagar. In the state of West Bengal is located Tarakeswar. In the state of Jammu and Kashmir is Amarnath Yatra to the Amarnathji cave in Jammu and Kashmir is of huge significance. In the state of Madhya Pradesh is located Pashupatinath temple, Mandsaur—only Pashupatinath ling temple having 8 faces ling statue.

In the state of Sikkim is Kirateshwar Mahadev Temple, in Legship, West Sikkim. On the banks of Bagmati River, Pashupatinath Temple is located in the eastern part of Kathmandu, Nepal. Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet, a pilgrimage site strongly believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Gosaikunda Lake is located in Rasuwa District, Nepal.  Doleshwar Mahadev temple is located in Bhaktapur, Nepal. In Khotang District of Nepal is located Halesi Mahadev, a sacred pilgrimage inside a massive cave. On a mountain near Kathmandu,   Kailashnath Mahadev Statue is situated.
