Permission must for erecting Ganesh pandals in Vijayawada

The Police Commissioner of Vijayawada has requested Ganesh utsav organisers to take prior permission from the police for erecting pandals. Steps should be taken to prevent any untoward incidents, fire and other mishaps, Gautam Sawang said.

The organisers should submit applications at the Unified Police Service Centre (UPSC), located in the Police Commissioner’s Office, with all details. Police will coordinate with municipal corporation, fire, AP Transco and other departments and grant permission.

A police officer will coordinate with the organising committee and the organisers are requested to take steps to prevent sound pollution. Loud speakers should be used from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and the committee members should specify the height and weight of the idol, number of puja days, nimajjanam date, time, vehicle type arranged for immersion and the route they take for nimajjanam.

The organisers should not create any traffic problem and the speakers are requested not to give any provoking speeches. Steps should be taken to prevent electric and fire accidents at the pandals, said Mr. Sawang in a press release.
