Parshuram Temple is a temple dedicated to Lord Parashurama, who is an avatar of Lord Vishnu and the temple is situated in Parshuram Village of Chiplun Taluka, Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. Parshurama is an immortal divine person.
After he defeated the Kshatriya kings in the battle, Parashurama had chosen the present day Parashuram Village, situated in Maharashtra, and lived there for a long period of time. It is believed Lord Parashurama still performs penance in the Himalayas, and he would give his immense blessings to his devotees, and gives all kinds of prosperity to them.
Lord Parashurama is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva. Though he is a Vishnu Avatar, he lived like a sage, and dedicated his entire life in removing the ego of the Kshatriya kings, and performed severe penance on Lord Shiva.His father is Rishi Jamadagni, and his mother is Mata Renuka Devi, and she is also called as Renuka Parameswari Mata, and she is having temples throughout India.
The Parashurama temple was built by Swami Paramhans Brahmendra, and he was the Guru of Chatrapati Sahu Maharaj of Kolhapur, and he built this Temple in the year 1700. Through the patronage from the Maharashtra rulers, the temple was administered properly, and still now this temple attracts large number of devotees during the festival seasons.
The main festivals celebrated at the temple are Akshaya Tritiya, Ram Navami and Mahashivratri, and during the festival days, free food is offered to all the devotees by the temple management. The temple is managed by the Shree Dev Bhargavram Devasthan Trust.
Parasurama was born in the Treta Yuga, and he has seen the two avatars of Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. He is considered as a pious person, a warrior, a sage and a divine personality. Worshipping Lord Parshuram is equivalent to worshipping Lord Vishnu. He has got good skills in archery, and he is an expert in all kinds of arts. By worshipping him, we would be relieved from enemy related problems, problems from black magic, and from physical and mental diseases.
