Parna Krichchha Vrata is a five-day austerity which is observed in a different manner than any other vrata. Separate solutions of different leaves are prepared and used on each day during the vrata.
On the first day the leaves of ‘Palash’ (Butea frondosa) are boiled and used. On the second day ‘Gular’ (Ficus glomerata) leaves are used after boiling.
‘Kamal’ ( lotus) and ‘Bael’ tree (wood apple) are used for 3rd and 4th day austerity respectively.
On the fifth day of the austerity he should live only on ‘Kusha’ grass solution and nothing else. The five-day austerity concludes on the fifth day with Kusha grass.
