Panchak 2013 dates, Time

Panchak is a period of a combination of five nakshatrams in a Hindu month. It is believed as inauspicious and no auspicious work is done during Panchak Nakshatras. Dhanishta, Shatabhisha, Purvabhadra, Uttarabhadra and Revati Nakshatras are referred to as Panchak Nakshatras.

Panchak is observed mainly in North India. It is usually observed during the moon transit from Kumbha Rashi (Aquarius) to Meena Rashi (Pisces).

Auspicious events like marriage (Vivah), Griha Pravesh (House Warming ceremony), Upanayana (Sacred Thread Ceremony), etc are avoided during Panchak.

Dakshina Prayana (journey towards South direction), cremation of dead body, constructing roof and major construction works, purchasing new goods, etc are also prohibited during Panchak in some Hindu communities in North India.

17 September 2013 to 21 September 2013 – Bhadrapada Month – Ashwin Month

14 October 2013 to 18 October 2013 – Ashwin Month

10 November 2013 to 15 November 2013 – Kartik Month

8 December 2013 to 12 December 2013 – Margashirsha Month
