Navratri 2012 Calendar with Nine Colours

Navratri, the most celebrated Hindu festival, will begin on October 16 and will continue till October 24. Ghatasthapana (Kalasha Sthapana) marks the beginning and Devi Balidaan marks the end of Navratri.

Nine aspects of Durga (Navadurga / Navadevi) are worshipped in many places of India. In Gujarat, Dasamahavidya goddesses are worshipped during Navratri. Saptamatrikas and Ashtamatrikas are also worshipped in some areas.

There is a tradition in Maharashtra and some places of Gujarat to wear nine different colours of clothes during Navratri celebrations. The list of colors may vary year to year based on the local calendars. (Nine Colours of Navratri 2013)
