Naraka Chaturdashi & Deepavali in Gangapur Dattatreya Temple, Karnataka

Naraka Chaturdasi which falls on Ashwija Bahula Chaturdasi during Deepavali festival marks the jubilant celebrations in Gangapur Dattatreya temple in Karnataka. In 2017, Naraka Chaturdasi date is October 18. And Deepavali date is October 19.

On this day, thousands of devotees take holy bath in ‘Ashta Tirthams’ around Gangapur Sri Kshetra temple. Ashta Tirthams are eight holy spots along the Bheema River that are sanctified by Sri Nrisimha Saraswathi Swamy Maharaj.

‘Dandi’ representing Swami Nrisimha Saraswathy leads the way of devotees for Punya Snan in Ashta Tirthams of Dattadham in Gangapur. Devotees perform holy bath in Ashta tirthams in order.
